Indonesia Yacht Rental FAQ
Common questions answered by our charter desk
The questions below cover the topics our charter desk fields most frequently across inquiries from first-time and returning Indonesia yacht rental clients. The answers reflect current 2026 charter-season practice and the operational data of our partner fleet across six Indonesian cruising regions. For inquiries not covered below, contact the atelier directly via WhatsApp at +62 811-3941-4563 or email bd@juaraholding.com.
1. What is included in an Indonesia yacht rental price?
The published all-in rate covers the entire vessel for the rental duration, full crew including captain, dive master and chef, all meals, soft drinks and water, basic house wine and beer, snorkelling equipment, paddleboards and kayaks, fishing tackle, tender boat for shore landings, all bedlinen and towels, daily housekeeping, fuel for the entire voyage, and welcome and disembarkation transfers from the local airport or marina.
2. What is not included?
International and domestic flights to the embarkation port, national park entry fees (Komodo, Raja Ampat, Wakatobi typically USD 35-55 per person per day), premium wines and spirits ordered against a published cellar list, scuba diving equipment hire (USD 35 per dive) and certification courses, spa treatments and onboard massage where available, and crew gratuity at the suggested 8-12 percent of the all-in rate paid at disembarkation.
3. How far in advance should I book?
Peak windows (July-August and 22 December through 5 January) on premium phinisi and motor yachts in Komodo and Raja Ampat are typically reserved twelve months ahead. Superyachts in the 130-foot-plus range require twelve to eighteen months for peak weeks. Shoulder months (April-June and September-November) accept four-to-six-month booking windows. Bali day-charters and short Lombok runs are usually available with two-to-four weeks of notice. Our charter desk maintains live calendars and confirms availability on inquiry.
4. What is the maximum group size?
Vessel capacity ranges from six guests on a small 28-metre phinisi or 50-foot sport yacht, to fourteen guests on a 50-metre flagship phinisi or 130-foot motor yacht. Indonesian maritime regulation caps total guest numbers per cabin and per vessel category, and the published cabin layout (typically three to seven cabins across our partner fleet) sets the practical ceiling. For groups exceeding fourteen guests we book two vessels operating in convoy, a model that works particularly well in Komodo and Raja Ampat where multiple anchorages can host two yachts in close proximity.
5. Are children welcome on Indonesia yacht rentals?
Yes. Most of our charters are family bookings including children and teenagers. The minimum recommended age varies by vessel and itinerary — sport yachts and Bali day-charters welcome guests of any age, phinisi voyages in Komodo work well from age six and above, Raja Ampat works from age eight given the longer transits and dive-orientation. Catamarans are particularly suited to families with children given the split-hull stability and shallow-draft beach access. The chef prepares parallel children’s menus on request, and the dive master runs snorkel-only programmes for non-certified divers across the entire week.
6. Do I need to be a certified diver?
No. Most of our charters mix certified divers and snorkellers within the same group. Certified divers (PADI Open Water and above) join two to four guided dives per day with the onboard dive master at sites suited to their certification level. Non-certified guests snorkel the same reefs at shallower depth, often with the same marine life sightings — manta rays, reef sharks and turtles surface regularly within snorkel range. PADI introductory and certification courses are available on board for guests wanting to certify during the voyage. Equipment rental is USD 35 per dive at most operators.
7. What is the best time of year for an Indonesia yacht rental?
It depends on the region. Komodo and Bali peak from April through November (the dry season) with calmer water, stronger underwater visibility and the most reliable weather windows. Raja Ampat reverses — the best window runs October through April, with the May-September wet season offering softer weather but solid value pricing. Wakatobi works year-round with March-November as the strongest band. Mentawai surf season aligns with the April-October swell window. Banda Sea expedition cruises run October-November southbound and February-April northbound for the migration windows. Our charter desk advises on the optimal vessel-region-month match for each inquiry.
8. Can I customise the itinerary?
Yes. The standard route in each region is a starting point — most charters end up customised. More time at the manta points, an additional day at a particular reef, a private chef-led cooking class, a sunrise photography session with a local guide, a sundowner tasting menu at a chosen anchorage. The captain holds final authority over routing decisions related to weather and safety, but within that envelope every charter is shaped to the group’s preferences. Customisation is discussed during pre-trip planning, finalised at the welcome briefing on day one, and adjusted day by day across the voyage.
9. What about dietary preferences and allergies?
The chef accommodates gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, kosher, halal, dairy-free, nut-free and other dietary requirements when notified at least seventy-two hours before embarkation. Our pre-trip questionnaire collects dietary information cabin by cabin, and the chef provisions accordingly during the forty-eight-hour pre-charter prep window. Severe allergies (peanut, shellfish) are handled with full ingredient sourcing transparency and isolated preparation areas. Children’s menus are prepared in parallel for younger guests across the voyage.
10. Is internet available on board?
Most of our partner vessels in the premium phinisi and motor yacht categories carry Starlink satellite internet uplinks, providing usable internet across the voyage even in remote anchorages where 4G is not available. Speeds typically reach 25-50 Mbps download — sufficient for video calls, file transfers and streaming. Sport yachts on Bali day-charters use shore-based 4G. Vessels not equipped with Starlink will tell you so in the pre-trip briefing; we flag this proactively at quote stage. The captain may temporarily restrict internet during sensitive marine-life encounters or critical navigation phases.
11. What happens if the weather forces a route change?
The captain holds the authority to adjust routing, anchorages and excursions based on wind, swell, tide and any operational safety factor. If a planned crossing is closed by weather, the captain reroutes to alternative anchorages of equivalent quality, typically without affecting the meals, dives or shore-experience plan for the day. Our charter desk pre-stages alternative routings during planning so the captain has options ready. In the rare event of a major weather event (cyclone-grade) the vessel will shelter in protected harbour and we extend the charter at no additional cost where calendar permits, or refund pro-rata where it does not.
12. Are vegetarian, vegan and special-occasion menus possible?
Yes to both. Vegetarian and vegan diets are accommodated as standard with the chef preparing parallel menus for the duration of the charter. Special occasions — birthdays, anniversaries, engagement proposals, milestone celebrations — are arranged in advance and presented on the night. Birthday cakes, anniversary champagne service, themed dinners under string lights on the bow deck, beachside dining at a private cove for one evening per voyage are all standard inclusions when notified at least seventy-two hours before embarkation. Our charter desk collects this brief during pre-trip planning.
13. How do I pay and what is the cancellation policy?
Payment is typically structured in two stages — 50 percent deposit on contract signature and 50 percent balance forty-five days before embarkation. International wire transfer is the standard method; we issue formal invoices in USD with transparent breakdown of vessel rate and any pre-billed extras. Cancellation policy varies by vessel and lead time but typically refunds 100 percent if cancelled more than 90 days from embarkation, 50 percent if 45-90 days, 25 percent if 30-45 days, and zero refund within 30 days. The detailed cancellation schedule is included in the contract and we recommend travel insurance covering cancellation for guests booking peak seasonal weeks.
14. Can I bring my own dive equipment?
Yes. Many experienced divers prefer their own regulator, BCD, computer and mask. The vessel provides tanks, weights, and full equipment rental for guests who prefer not to travel with kit. Bringing your own gear typically reduces the daily dive cost by USD 35-50 per dive and ensures equipment fit. Compressors are calibrated for air and Nitrox on most of our partner vessels; rebreather support is available on select superyachts. The dive master runs an equipment briefing on day one to integrate your gear with the vessel’s dive operation.
15. Do you offer multi-region charters?
Yes. Multi-region charters are available across two configurations. First, vessel-repositioning charters where a single yacht runs across two regions on a longer voyage — Bali to Komodo (5-7 days), Komodo to Raja Ampat (10-14 days), Banda to Raja Ampat (12-15 days). Second, switched-vessel charters where the group disembarks one vessel at the end of one region and joins a different matched vessel at the start of the next region. The atelier handles all multi-region logistics including domestic flight bookings between embarkation ports. Our private fleet brief covers vessel suitability for each region.
16. How do I start the booking process?
Send your inquiry to the charter desk via WhatsApp at +62 811-3941-4563 or email bd@juaraholding.com. Include your preferred dates (or date range), region, group size and ages, vessel category if you have a preference, and any special-occasion notes. We respond within twenty-four hours with two or three matched vessels, transparent all-in pricing, a draft itinerary, and the next-step booking process. The standard process from first inquiry to signed contract is seven to ten business days for clear-availability bookings, longer for complex multi-region or peak-season inquiries.
