It costs more and works better: shorter tender cycles, faster swim stops, and two smaller groups that actually talk to each other. The coordination points are a shared anchorage, matched departure times, radio contact between skippers and one named person on each vessel who owns the schedule.
What does not work is splitting a group by seniority. It is noticed, and it undoes the point of the day.
The shape of a day that works
- 07:30–08:00 departure. Earlier than feels reasonable, which buys calm water and an empty anchorage.
- One crossing, one anchorage. Two stops maximum. Every additional move costs 40 minutes of people standing around.
- Swim and activity block mid-morning, while it is cool and before lunch.
- Lunch at anchor, served rather than queued if the group is over 15.
- The talking part after lunch, in the shade, with the engines off. This is where an electric or hybrid vessel earns its rate, because a running generator makes a group conversation exhausting.
- Back alongside by 16:00–16:30 if there is an evening commitment, allowing for traffic.
Catering, alcohol and the sensible limits
